The practice of feeling
Surya is the Sanskrit word for 'sun'.
The name speaks to light, energy and rhythms of practice. At Surya, yoga is approached as more than asana alone, with breath, meditation, philosophy and rest woven into the physical.
There is space here to move, to learn, to notice, to practise.

Hi, I'm Claire
I'm a yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner, and the person behind Surya.
My approach to yoga is thoughtful, curious and grounded in continuous study. Classes bring together asana, breath and meditation, with space to explore the practice, rather than just move through shapes.
Surya grew from a desire to create the kind of place I value practicing in myself: small, welcoming and personal, with time to notice, ask questions and learn.
Find Your Practice
There are different ways to practice at Surya. Some classes are strong and flowing, others slower and more contemplative. Each draws from the wider practice of yoga, with attention to breath, awareness and how you meet yourself on the mat.

Yoga
Monday 5:30 pm
A complete yoga practice, shaped by the seasons and the natural world.
We begin by arriving through awareness and breath before moving into asana, often building through sun salutations into a stronger, flowing practice. Classes may also include myofascial release, pranayama, meditation and quieter postures before a long savasana.
Expect to move, breathe and work, then leave feeling both energised and deeply settled.
Vinyasa Flow
Sunday 8:30 am
A dynamic, breath-led practice built around sun salutations and flowing sequences, exploring strength, balance and mobility along the way.
Expect creative transitions, moments of challenge and time to notice the quality of your breath as you move.
Some yoga experience is helpful, but you don’t need to know every posture or keep up with anyone else.

Yin and Restorative Yoga
Monday 6:45 pm & Sunday 9:45 am
A quieter practice combining the stillness of Yin Yoga with deeply restful restorative postures.
Longer-held Yin postures create space to explore sensation and stillness, while supported restorative postures invite the body into rest.
Classes may also include breathwork and meditation.
A gentle way into yoga if you're new, and a valuable counterpoint to a stronger practice.
Friday Morning Yoga
Friday 9:00 am
A steady, accessible Friday morning yoga practice with time to explore how your body moves.
Classes vary from week to week and may include yoga postures, mobility work, gentle strengthening, myofascial release (MFR) and breathwork, before finishing with quieter postures, meditation and savasana.
Some weeks we'll flow; others will be slower and more focused. Everything can be adapted, so you can work with your own body and experience.
A good place to start if you're returning to yoga after a break, feel a little stiffer than you used to, or simply want a more considered practice without the pace of Vinyasa.
Come and Practice
With just six spaces in each class, Sūrya is a small and personal place to practise yoga in Romanno Bridge.
Whether you're completely new to yoga or returning to your practice, you're welcome here.
